4 Mar 2008 - Acton Under 13 v Copleston Under 13s – Sunday March 2nd - Match Report

The Copleston convoy left the home of football for the long trek to Acton . Sat Nav’s at the ready and always remember to follow the car in front. But do make sure the car in front is one of us and not a little old lady on her way to Stowmarket. J

This was a must win game for the Cops in their quest to finish fourth. A cold but sunny day awaited the teams and Cops kicked off. It was pretty much all one way traffic as the goals began to mount up. Jazzy scored the pick of the first half as she waltzed through the defence, rounding the keeper before firing home. This was reminiscent of Maradonna against England in 1986 (For our younger readers think Cristiano Ronaldo). Half time came with the cops 8-1 up and some great football being played particularly by Becky, Jazzy and Naomi.

Half time – Acton 1 – Copleston 8

Charlie finally arrived from her Sunday outing to Stowmarket and took her place in the onion bag for the second half. The goals again flowed freely with Ashleigh grabbing four and Jazzy completing yet another hat trick. The highlight of the match was not even a goal. Ashleigh took a pass on the half volley from about 30 yards out and cracked in a ferocious shot that looked a goal all the way until it smacked off the cross bar. It was a moment of pure genius, which we know the girl is capable off. Mema even managed to curl a goal in direct from a corner.

The match finished with Cops putting fifteen past Acton . The goals were scored by Ashleigh (4) Jazzy (3) Becky (2) Sarah (2) Naomi (2) Mema (1) and an own goal. Ash has now broken the 20 goal mark for the season. This was a thoroughly professional performance today with some great passing and well taken goals. A special mention to Acton who played the game in great spirit with a smile on their faces. We all hope that they continue in the years to come as they are a credit to the league.

Let’s see if we can replicate this next week in our cup semi final against Waveney. We need to be completely on our game and up for it right from the start. We can do it but we need everyone behind us.

Come on the Cops
