28 Apr 2008 - Copleston Under 13’s V Claydon Girls U13’s – Match report – 27th April 2008
Copleston Under 13’s finished off their season with a friendly against Claydon Under 13’s. Claydon are a new team for next season and this was their first ever competitive match. They will be a welcome addition to the league.
A beautiful day greeted the two teams on kick-off which also had a newly qualified lady referee refereeing her first match. The game kicked off and Copleston built up some early pressure. A couple of quick goals from Ashleigh and Beth got the Sky Blues off to a good start. Claydon were giving the Cops a good competitive game and their goalkeeper in particular was having a blinder. Two more goals to the Cops before half time gave the score line a satisfactory look.
Half time – Copleston 4 – Claydon 0
The second half got under way with a guest appearance from Bria. Becky had left the onion bag behind to play at left wing during the second half and she helped herself to a hat trick. Ashleigh also completed her hat trick and Jess knocked in a goal. Bridie had abandoned her defensive duties to look for a goal herself. She duly rounded off the scoring with a block buster.
The game was played in great spirit and well refereed. All though the score was heavily in Copleston’s favour it has to be remembered that this was Claydon’s first game. They will be a welcome addition to the league and I would imagine become a good competitive team as they get used to match play. Well done to Claydon and their management team.
Final score – Copleston U13’s 10 – Claydon U13’s 0
So the 9-a-side season draws to a close for the Under 13’s and what a great season it was. The girls have come on leaps and bounds and we now have a group of proper footballers who can give any team, including Waveney and Brandon, a match. On top of this we scored 95 goals this season. Let’s hope we can pick up some silver ware during the tournaments including out international fixture against the team from ‘
