Copleston U15

League 5 a Side Tournament

These match reports are just getting more fun to write with every week that goes by!  Copleston entered two teams into the League 5 a side tournament for the first time - and one of them came back with winners medals!

Well done to Eve, Emily Double, Amy T, Leah and Siobhan on their outstanding achievement.

Thanks too, to Courtney, Emily Driver, Laura, Grace, Amy B and Sammy for their participation in the tournament, for being great fun to be with and for supporting the winning girls in the final.

We’re fortunate in the U15s to have such a great bunch of girls.

Copleston ‘B’ who ran out tournament winners, began with a 0 – 1 defeat against Woodbridge ‘A.’  With one game to play, it looked as if it was going to be a Woodbridge ‘A’ v Woodbridge ‘B’ final, unless Copleston could win their final game against Waveney.  A well taken goal by Emily Double and a solid team performance from the rest of the girls saw them through.

Copleston ‘B’ met Woodbridge ‘B’ in the final and the player probably least likely to score the winner, Amy Trenter, tucked away a Kanu style goal to claim the tournament for the Cop’s.  I’m not sure who was more excited – the players or the parents.

Siobhan grabbed a couple of goals along the way and it was good to see Sammy continue her recent goal scoring run.

Other highlights of the day both came from Emily Driver, first when she struck a perfect half volley against the backside of a guy who came on to our pitch to pick up a rogue ball and then when she ‘scored’ a great goal – not on our pitch, but the one next to ours/

The ducklings were cute too of course.

As you would expect from a well run Woodbridge team, they were generous in defeat in the final and cheered our girls when their medals were presented.  Thanks John - we appreciated that.  Your girls will take some beating next year.

So, a great end to the season and Presentation Night to look forward to on Friday.

League Cup runners up and League 5 a side winners – not bad at all.
