17 Sep 2007 - Cops Under 13's V Debenham LC U13’s - September 16th - Match Report

Debenham LC Girls U13’s v Copleston   SC Girls Under 13’s - Sunday September 16th

A beautiful sunny day greeted both teams as Copleston U13’s played their first game of the season and first competitive game at 9-a-side.  Cops kicked of down the slope and after some early pressure took the lead through Sarah with a goal from close range. Copleston continued to press home the advantage with new signings Jemma, Kellie and Jasmine showing up well in their new team colours. Copleston were bossing the midfield and doubled the advantage soon after with a superb individual effort from Bethany who ran over half the length of the pitch to slam home from just inside the area. Naomi completed the scoring in the first half to give the Cops a 3-0 half time lead. Cops had played some great football and their pre-season preparation was paying off.

Cops started the second half going up the slope and were unable to start the half with the same intensity as they had in the first half. After some tactical tinkering Cops got their foot back on the gas and two quick goals for Mema put the game out of the reach of a hard working Debenham side. Ashleigh then got her usual goal after some long range efforts had not troubled the keeper. The defence, marshalled by Bridie had looked strong and comfortable. Becky had a thunderbolt well saved by the keeper before Mema wrapped up the scoring with a well taken third to complete her hat trick.

A excellent start to the season by Copleston and thanks to Debenham for a game played in great spirit.
