21 Nov 2007 - Copleston U15 2 Boxford U15 3 - Sunday 18th November
This was always going to be a ‘game of two halves’ with a fierce wind blowing from one end of the pitch to the other.
Playing with the wind, Copleston were deservedly 2-0 up at the interval, both goals coming from Siobhan. The goals were of a high standard, particularly the first which began with a cleverly worked short corner – very nice – something we try at training. The quality of the Copleston play in the first half was as good as we have seen all season and Eve’s safe handling kept the score sheet blank for the visitors at the interval.
In the second half Copleston played into the wind and it was difficult on occasions to get the ball into the opposition’s half of the pitch. Three goals from set pieces saw what turned out to be a very satisfying first half end in a disappointing 2-3 defeat.
The table at the moment doesn’t really tell the story of how well the girls are playing
and how close the matches have been, with none of the defeats having been by more than a single goal. Perhaps this is the year to go all the way in the cup?
Amy Trenter had one of her best games ever and was voted Girl of the Game jointly with Siobhan. Training on Wednesday – defending set pieces.
