28 Jan 2008 - Match report. Sunday 27th January 2008 - Copleston U15 v Woodbridge U15

Copleston 1 Woodbridge 5

If effort alone won matches, we might have won this one.  Reduced to 9 players after 20 minutes, Copleston had their work cut out against a capable and large squad of Woodbridge players.

Copleston started well and had a couple of good chances early on.  The half time score of 4 – 0 flattered the visitors and in a well fought second half, the Copleston girls did themselves proud, with each team scoring once.

Siobhan’s goal was the pick of the six, skilfully lobbing the ball over the advancing Woodbridge keeper.  12 goals in 11 games – quite a strike rate!

Alysha, who worked hard for the full 80 minutes, took some knocks, but got up and got on with it every time deservedly won Girl of the Game.

Other good performances today in particular came from Amy T, who found herself playing centre of defence in Emily’s absence and Courtney who did a good job both in midfield and in defence.

We usually play our best football in the first half, so a 1 – 1 score in the second half was a positive to take home with us.  Well done from me and Paul to everyone for not giving up today.
