6 Feb 2008 - Match report - Copleston U12 V Witnesham Wasps U12 – 3rd February 2008

Witnesham Wasps came to Copleston with a two point lead in the league, so Copleston knew they had to win this one to lift themselves above them.

Copleston quickly went 1 goal up when a superb long throw by Kathryn was volleyed in by Jess. The lead was then quickly doubled by Jade after a goal mouth scramble.

It wasn’t all one way traffic as Witnesham looked dangerous every time they broke from the midfield, but some superb saves by Emily kept them at bay.

Half time score 2-2.

The second half started with both teams coming out really fired up, but it was Copleston who took the lead through Jade, when she found herself one on one with the Witnesham goal keeper, to make it 3-2. Rachel then quickly increased the lead with another well taken goal for Copleston.

Witnesham heads didn’t drop and they kept pressing forward to score again, making it 4-3. With 10 minutes to go Jade completed her hat trick, but Witnesham soon pulled another goal back to make it 5-4. With 3 minutes before time, Jade “hotshot” Horne got her fourth to make the final score 6-4.

A good all around performance by the Copleston team. A special mention to Kathryn for her tireless display and her long and accurate throws which caused Witnesham a great deal of problems. Jade also has now scored 26 goals in 13 games, what a strike rate and she hasn’t finished yet…..
